Early 19th Century King George III Period Slant Top Writer’s Desk

This post 1770/18th century King George III slant-front writing desk was owned by my great grandmother – a wonderfully cosmopolitan woman of the period. The desk confidently stands on modestly curved cabriole legs.. The slant drop front is pierced with a keyhole carefully centered enhancing the figured deep and dark walnut finish. This sophisticated George III slant-front desk also features beautiful fanned brass plate back ring drawer pulls. A floral and leaf scroll embossed trim along the lower edge further adds an elegant appeal to this classic. Inside the desk for organizing those ever important ‘thank you notes’, two vertical letter slots are in the center with four envelope or ‘pigeon’ hole slots on each side.

Simplicity is elegance, and this timeless piece is a testament to that expression.
