Early 20th Century Schmieg & Kotzian Georgian Carved Mahogany Breakfront Cabinet

A classically Georgian styled 1940s two-part crotched mahogany breakfront cabinet by Schmieg & Kotzian with a decorative carved cornice, cockbeaded borders, four mullioned glass front doors, three adjustable shelves with plate rails and heavy brass pulls. The lower case drawers have felt-lined, divided flatware organizers, a pullout leather top secretary, pullout serving shelves, linen drawers and storage compartments. A single key unlocks the British-made cabinet locks, which are stamped “SK” for Schmieg & Kotzian, Inc.

Schmieg & Kotzian was a renowned NYC cabinetmaker whose neoclassical furnishings graced the Waldorf Astoria, the Supreme Court and homes of the city’s social elites.
