A most exquisite French mid-19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu, white Carrara marble and crystal clock. The clock is raised on a moulded oval white Carrara marble base supported by richly chased beaded topie shaped feet. Above and below the wrap around beaded ormolu bands are stunning swags of ormolu floral garlands tied with charming ribbons. Above is the lyre shaped ormolu body adorned with richly chased berried laurel garlands and centered by the original enamel dial with lovely colorful swaging garlands, Roman and Arabic numerals and pierced ormolu floral and foliate hands. Surrounding the clock is a richly chased sunburst designed band adorned with an inner band of stunning crystal beads. Above the dial is the exceptional top crown with an additional swagging berried laurel garland and centered by a striking classical mask set on a sunburst designed background and in a rich satin and burnished finish.
