Large Modernist Abstract Painting

Large and colorful Abstract painting titled “Rose’ Swagger”, by artist Roderick Coles .
The mixed media work on canvas touches upon a few schools of study from the 20th Century and employs simple geometric color blocking, wax resist dyed and distressed cotton duck fabric which is then collaged into place for grounding pattern effect. Some gentle figural homage’ to Modernists concepts here. The work attempts a lighthearted vibe in a world of oppressive darkness and pessimism, through the title and the small figures within the painting, wine does flow and smiles abound. Ciao !
